The Sand Dollar Is Closed Forever
The Sand Dollar Steak and Spirits Closes for Good
The Sand Dollar Steak and Spirits is officially closed. The Sand Dollar, which opened in early 2024 and is located at 2858 Forrest Street was owned by Brooke and Todd Hoiness. Over the weekend, investors informed Brooke and Todd Hoiness they were pulling out. The couple hadn’t paid rent on the building in over a year, and trash had piled up in recent weeks—so much that mice were chewing through the bags.
The Hoinesses reportedly owe money to people across Grays Harbor, from investors to former employees. While many community members are relieved to see the business shuttered, former employees are still owed wages. Withholding pay is considered theft under federal law. The big question now: Will they be held accountable? So far, they've followed this same pattern for years, without consequences.

Building owner Terry Emmert of Emmert International is now lining up a new tenant to bring a fresh restaurant and bar to the space soon.
