Westport Police Department Launches Residential Lock Box Program

Westport, WA — The Westport Police Department is pleased to announce the launch of its new Residential Lock Box Program, designed to improve emergency response and enhance safety for vulnerable members of the community.

This program provides eligible residents with a secure lock box that allows first responders from the Westport Police Department and the South Beach Regional Fire Authority to quickly and safely access a residence during a bona fide emergency. The goal is to reduce response times and prevent property damage that can occur when forced entry is necessary.

The program is available to Westport residents who are elderly or disabled and who live alone or spend extended periods of time alone. There is no cost for qualified participants.

“This program helps ensure that first responders can reach individuals quickly in critical situations,” said the Westport Police Department. “By providing immediate access when a resident is unable to open the door, we can deliver faster, safer, and more effective emergency assistance.”

Officials emphasized that the Residential Lock Box Program is strictly intended for emergency use.

Important: This is not a lockout service. The lock boxes are only to be utilized during legitimate emergency situations when immediate entry is necessary for police or fire personnel.

Residents interested in participating can find more information and complete an application by scanning the QR code on the program flyer or by contacting the Westport Police Department directly.

The Westport Police Department remains committed to innovative programs that strengthen community safety and support residents in times of need.
